The College Congregation has successfully elected two representatives to the College Governing Council, with one candidate each chosen to represent the teaching and non-teaching staff. The election, held recently drew widespread participation from members of both staff categories in a transparent and democratic process.
Out of four candidates who contested, Mr. Akintunde Olufemi Osibamowo emerged as the representative for the teaching staff, while Mr. Adebowale Olumide Osho was elected to represent the non-teaching staff. Both candidates campaigned on platforms of inclusivity, staff welfare, and institutional growth.
Mr. Akintunde Osibamowo, a seasoned academic, is a Chief Lecturer in the Mathematics Department of School of Science; while Mr. Adebowale Osho, a seasoned administrator is a Deputy Registrar in the administrative arm of the College.
The Provost of the College, Dr. Modupe Oba-Adenuga, congratulated the winners and praised the congregation for the orderly and transparent conduct of the election. “This election underscores the strength of our democratic processes and the commitment of our staff to the advancement of our College. I am confident that the elected representatives will be strong voices for their constituencies on the Governing Council,” the Provost remarked.
The Congregation representatives’ roles on the Governing Council are crucial, as they will contribute to strategic decisions affecting the College’s academic programmes, infrastructure, and staff welfare. Both representatives are expected to join the Council in advancing the College mission of excellence in education and service delivery.
